Stiles/Peter

inell:

Nonnie! This headcanon/not!fic got long! I guess Peter was feeling inspired? Hope you enjoy!

Peter has never been a fan of camping or spending time in
the outdoors unless said outdoors included a pool and a colorful cocktail in
his hand. The fact that he has committed to spending months in the fucking
rainforest is starting to make him question his sanity. In addition, the
presence of seventeen strangers not to mention the dozen crew members is
already proving to be more annoying than expected. It’s all Talia’s fault, of
course. She was on the third season of this stupid program, and she made it to
the top five. The family had been watching the current season during
Thanksgiving, and Peter had been commenting on the stupidity of the players
when she’d dared to throw down the gauntlet. “As if you could ever do any
better, Peter” were the nine little words that led to him conducting a producer
he met during Talia’s stint on the show and acquiring a place of his own for
the newest season.

Something like that…

Freaking love this scene. Really begs the question of just how strong Peter was before the fire/alpha/death/resurrection fiasco, and how much stronger he is now….

For one, he survived the fire. Out of Laura, Derek, and Cora, he was the only one who actually got caught in the blaze, and had to be hospitalized. Meanwhile all the other beta wolves stuck in the house didn’t make it. Granted, it put him out of commission for 6 years, but Peter was strong enough or fortunate enough to survive something like that.

Also, as an Alpha he was able to turn at least partially into a real wolf, an ability only Talia and Laura possessed (and Derek got it waaaaay later, off some b.s. S04 Kate mumbo jumbo). Even though he was more than half out of his mind, he still managed to pull that off. (And personally Peter’s alpha form is my favorite; it’s the only authentic/classic werewolf form on this whole stupid show.)

After that, he is the only character on this show to have died and deliberately orchestrated a way to make himself come back from the dead. Everyone else either wasn’t really dead or “evolved” or had weird longevity powers or whatever.

He fought off Berserkers and tore The Mute Man to freaking shreds, even though the guy was some bio-engineered special ops assassin. Then Peter commenced to nearly dishragging Scott’s True Alpha fuzzy butt, even though he was supposedly a still-recovering Omega werewolf with no pack.

Despite being burned alive for the third time in a freaking row and being erased twice, Peter came back just fine, kicking the tar out of the Ghost Riders.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…..

Something tells me that in 6B there will be a final reckoning with Peter and Scott, as well as possibly one with Peter and Kate – unless Derek’s got that covered. (Biting my nails hoping Peter and Chris don’t fight again, over that whole sewer scene.) I just need this show to make up its mind already on whether or not Peter is a reluctant ally/ally-adjacent, antihero, heel/turn, main foil, or full-blown villain.

Honestly, I want him to become an Alpha again and take care of the remaining Hales and be a good uncle.

Blinking furiously Stiles turned on a heel to leave.  He didn’t even know what had drawn him to Derek’s loft in the first place.  It was becoming a trend, arriving in strange places without knowing why he was there.  Stiles had a little more sympathy for Lydia now.

“You were supposed to have Scott,” Peter’s voice said behind him, dripping with false sympathy.  "You’ve been friends for so long.  The bond between you two is nearly unbreakable.  I’ve no doubt your abilities would have naturally woken when Scott became an Alpha if not for Deaton.“

Stiles froze, one foot across the threshold.  He reached out, grabbing the door tightly to keep himself upright.

“What do you mean,” he asked over his shoulder.  "Deaton warned us that there would be a darkness.“  Stiles couldn’t stop himself from shaking.  Not now, he tried to tell him body.  I can’t collapse here!

Leaning heavily against the door, he turned himself to meet Peter’s eyes.  He wasn’t surprised to find the older man barely an arms length away.

“It isn’t the darkness that is causing your weakness, your blackouts.”  Peter said.  Leaning close, the wolf whispered, “You’re abilities were woken prematurely in that ice bath.  Deaton knew it would happen and he still partnered you with the banshee.”

“Normally,” Peter said, raising his eyebrows.  "Lydia would have been perfect to bring you back.  But when you’re powers woke they sought out your Alpha but found a conductor for the dead instead.  In the mean time, another Emissary had already attached himself to the Alpha you were destined for.“

Stiles swallowed, the tempo of his heartbeat picking up, as Peter closed the distance between them.  The wolf braced his hands against the heavy door, bracketing Stiles between them.  Stiles wanted to move but he knew if he tried that he would end up in a heap on the floor.  Also, there was a niggling sensation, almost like an instinct, telling him that Peter was right.

“Alan Deaton made himself Scott’s emissary that night and, now, you’re dying because of it.”  Stiles legs finally gave out beneath him.  But Peter caught him before he could slip to the floor.  Peter lifted him easy, cradling the boy to his chest with surprising gentleness.  Then he bent his head, to whisper in Stiles’ ear.

“The worst part, is that he knew this would happen and did it anyway because he didn’t think you were worthy to guide the True Alpha.”
